With a truss on the top floor, we enjoyed performing to people on four different floors as we climbed our 10m silks, with audience members watching from above, below and beside us.

We started with a ten minutes freestyle set, to draw people at the graduate show to the drinks reception area. In our blue fifties style costumes and flowers in our hair, we were feeling in tune with the sunny weather!

Our feature act was our up-beat Flapper act, with lots of 1920s dancing on the silks, drops, splits and a chance to really perform to the enthusiastic audience. We had lots of fun, and always love working with the professional, relaxed and efficient High Performance riggers.

Great Gatsby Party at Cafe de ParisBack in September, Katie performed the Starfiz Great Gatsby themed silks act at a private birthday party in the sumptuous Cafe de Paris in London. During the champagne reception she performed ambient aerial hoop sets to the period music of The Famous Four, in a black beaded leotard and feather headpiece. The venue, music and lighting created the perfect atmosphere for a 1920s themed party.

The band continued to play throughout dinner, until two flapper dancers entertained guests with a 15 minute medley of routines, followed by Katie on silks to impress the guests with daring drops, beautiful dance and graceful aerial movement in a 1920s style. For the feature act she wore the white fringed flapper costumes designed by Evol Productions.

Katie performed ambient aerial sets and Starfiz’s flapper silks act on Saturday night at the Eden Project, for Truro and Penwith College’s 20th Anniversary. She returned to Cornwall for the night to perform with Swamp Circus, alongside stilt walking trees Brett and Tristan, and tight rope walking beauty Alana Jones.
